On R series the driver sits in the rear chassis above the engine, which means the forward visibility is not quite as good as in other articulated Avant models. Also, as the driver’s seat on R series is further away from the attachment, visibility to the attachment is inevitably not as good as on 400–700 series.
The dimensions of R series and Avant 600 series are the same except for the height. Because the driver sits above the engine, R series is about 10 cm higher than corresponding Avant 500/600 series loader.
Lift capacity of the traditional Avant and the R series is practically the same when the loader chassis is straight. When articulating with the machine the tipping load of R series decreases faster than with traditional Avant, because the rear chassis of R series doesn’t act as a counterweight like on 400–700 series where the driver sits in the front chassis. With the chassis in full articulation the tipping load of R series is about 150 kg lower than the tipping load of corresponding Avant 500/600 series loader.
Even though the turning circle of R series is practically the same as with other Avants, R series turns more sharply and in smaller space in very tight situations, because the driver’s seat doesn’t extend beyond the turning radius of the wheels. The advantages of R series steering system are best shown when driving along and turning in narrow corridors and in tight situations indoors.
